The Benefits of Meal Planning

As we approach spring here in the west coast, we are nearing
fresh seasonal produce, flourishing gardens and plenty of framers market trips. Beautiful meals enjoyed outside, one of life's simple pleasures, are just around the corner as we clean up the garden, pull out the outdoor furniture and can slowly begin to gather with loved ones again.
There are so many benefits to meal planning;
Less stress, saving money, less food waste, a healthier diet...Here we outline some of the many advantages of meal prep and planning.
.
1. Less Stress
Living in a fast paced society, full of noise, we all fall victim to decision fatigue. At the end of a long day, the last thing anyone wants to do is come up with dinner ideas, which often leads to takeout, or quick unhealthy meals out of convenient. And while there is no shame in this, a simple way to make things easier on yourself is to plan it out ahead of time.
2. Save Money
Taking the time to plan out your meals can substantially stretch your food budget. Having an idea of what you'll need for the week and only buying those ingredients cuts down on impulsive spending, and reduces the amount of food wasted that doesn't get eaten during the week.
3. Healthier Meals
As mentioned above, planning your grocery list strategically makes it easier to buy only healthy ingredients, making it easier to stick to a balanced diet. Without junk food laying around the house, you are more likely to reach for a healthier option, especially if it is planned ahead of time and it takes little thought.
