Meet The Team - Roe
Introducing the Notary Team
-
Hi, I'm Roe.
I began working at the idilic storefront of Notary Ceramics in July of 2023. Not too long after joining the team, Sarah asked me to begin managing the social media accounts, which included writing our newsletters and publishing these here sweet Journal posts. I've really loved sharing myself with you through my love of Notary Ceramics and the slow and conscious lifestyle it inspires. So, I guess it's about time I introduce myself and reveal the hidden little face that has been behind Notary's voice.
Roe is my middle name. It's a name that belonged to my grandfather and that I began claiming as my own after I graduated college and moved to a new city in 2015. I was born with the first name Rebecca, which was immediately translated into countless nicknames: Boo, Becca, RJ, just to name a few that I'll still answer to. But Roe is definitely who I feel I am these days.

I am a Taurus Sun, Virgo Moon + Sagittarius Rising. I feel my astrology is reflected pretty fluently in how I interact with my daily life. Specifically my need for intentional + beautiful surroundings, and abundant opportunities for freedom. I'm still learning about myself though this lens though, and have been exploring my Gene Keys, Human Design and Vedic chart, too. Hand me any method of self-inquiry and I will be curious about how I might get to know myself better.

A Typical Morning -
I prefer a morning where I don't have to rush off to wherever I'm going, so I'll do my best to wake early enough to spend time with some of my favorite and most grounding practices. Lately, my husband and I will share a sweet morning tea ritual where we check-in with one another and our intentions for the day ahead. I'll write in my journal, maybe pull a card from one of my favorite decks, move my body in some kind of way and hopefully still have time to eat breakfast before heading to the studio. If I run out of time, which I often do, I will cook up eggs that we get from our chickens and bring them to work with me because there is no better breakfast than those fresh eggs to me right now.
Currently -
Life has been a beautiful, wild and unexpected ride recently. I landed at Notary after going back to school to attend some select courses on interior design. This new direction was inspired by the 1970s Oregon City fixer-upper my husband and I bought in November of 2019. We haven't stopped working on it since, (we're currently living with two fully demoed bathrooms and are awaiting a permit for a new deck), and though it's an overwhelming and very messy endeavor, I've come to absolutely love the process of translating our life to each room. Prior to design, I spent all of my time in yoga studios up in Seattle and briefly here in Oregon before the Pandemic hit. I teach yin + Restorative yoga - the yoga practices that require you slow down, be with yourself, and climb out of your thinking mind. These are the yoga styles people think are easy but can actually be very challenging to our modern day bodies and nervous systems, and I love holding space for that ease to come through. I'm also certified in Soul-Based Coaching through which I offer a 1:1 intuitive container called Soul Talk, and I am currently pursuing certification in BreathWave, (a beautiful and unique method of breathwork), facilitation. All while launching Notary Design and absolutely adoring all of the ways in which I get to contribute to this incredible business and team!

Notary Design -
In case you missed it, we've launched a design service! Sarah's aesthetic, which is so beautifully on display at our storefront, has long been admired and aligns so well with my own. Together, we created Notary Design upon shared values of sustainable sourcing, timeless design, personalized care and the understanding that your home is a reflection of who you truly are. Notary Design is a consultation service, perfect for anyone who is simply, (and understandably), overwhelmed by the process of personalizing their space. We're here to help streamline the process, offer our guidance and design expertise, and work intimately with you to create a design vision and strategy for your project. Tell us about your project and learn more below.
In The Shop -
I think I have a new favorite piece each month, but some have really stuck with me. Lamp #199 from our limited edition lighting collection and our serving bowl in matte grey are probably my top two.
Thank you all for your sweet presence in our community. It's been a joy to become a part of it and as I continue on, feel free to reach out on our social media or reply to our emails now knowing that it's me on the other end :) I'll be looking forward to connecting again soon.
