In The Kitchen with Sarah
On a sunny winter morning this week, before the snow started falling, I stopped by Sarah’s house in order to see how it is she makes her exquisite handmade fudge. As always, I was first greeted by Otis, the family’s littlest pup, and she made me a coffee with cream, sugar and cinnamon.
Despite the cold air outside, the kitchen is warm and smells of morning. There are tulips all about, offering up the hope of and joy of the coming Springtime. As Sarah pulls out the necessities for the recipe, (a mix of chocolates and nuts), we look for some pink sprinkles she picked out in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Fudge is simpler to make than I ever knew. An easy sweet treat that Sarah loved making through and now well past the holiday season.
Sarah has been healing from an injury to her hand that has kept her away from clay and the wheel for a painfully, (no pun intended), long time. Playing in her kitchen has been a necessary creative outlet she has needed to support her while she’s been away from her studio.
The batch Sarah whipped together this week had pecans and toffee pieces folded into it. The final touch is topping it with flaky sea salt.
Here is a recipe Sarah likes to play off of!
Spend Valentine’s Day with us at the storefront on Saturday, February 15th from 12-5pm & grab yourself a bag of handmade fudge for yourself! Come and browse our thoughtfully curated gifts, sip Suzor Wine and pick up something special for yourself and your lovers.
