Ella Went To Europe | Notary Attic

At the start of September, my mom and I took a trip to Europe to visit schools in London, Copenhagen, and Paris. Learning more about potential programs was the perfect excuse to explore these three beautiful cities. It had been almost a year since my first trip to Italy with Notary, and returning to Europe brought a familiar sense of awe.

The antique markets in Italy left a lasting impression, so I made a point to seek out a few in Paris. We spent two full days wandering through the markets, completely absorbed in the treasures around us. There’s something so captivating about walking through the stalls, surrounded by objects that have passed through so many hands.

Sarah sent me off with a budget to source pieces for the shop, which gave the search a purpose beyond personal interest. Sorting through tables of old books, ceramics, and furniture became its own quiet kind of work. Each find carried its own story, and it felt good to bring that energy back into the shop’s collection.

What made the trip most meaningful though was sharing it with my mom. We’ve talked about traveling together for years and this time we finally made it happen. Moving through new cities side by side, with no real agenda beyond what each day brought, was so special to me.

Being away from home gave me space to reflect on how much my familiar rhythms and connections mean to me. This trip reminded me to slow down, to notice what’s right in front of me, and to never take any of it for granted.
